Hello to all
Greetings to all.
New here at the mobileread forums. I have just purchased a PRS700BC,as a replacement for my PRS505 (whose screen is broken-but *still* not quite sure how). I suppose *technically* the 700BC is my third reader,as I bought a second PRS505 for my other half (to prevent MINE from suddenly "disappearing" ). At any rate-I do look forward to learning alot from everyone else-both about the particular readers I prefer, and also about the other devices on the market, and their accessories ,etc etc. ![]() |

I have had my 700 since Tuesday,I have barely put it down since.I was easily able to transfer all of my books over-finished two that I was half way through when my screen broke. The one thing I like most so far,is the backlight-I often read in bed-and found that with the 505 I kept forgetting to use (or pack for travel) the clip on lights we bought-and I did not want to disturb while reading. And now, when I have those restless ,sleepless moments,I can read without rustling papers etc). Additionally-I do like the device lock feature actually, especially since it is causing reader envy here-this may make me feel a little better (laughing....I actually told the salesperson, not to be surprised,if he saw me back soon...buying other 700s for the family...-which then prompted the person next to me,who was buying a 700 for himself and a 505 for his girlfriend to buy two 700s instead ! )
I have not had much chance to use the annotate feature yet-which I will find useful as I read a wide variety of books and like to keep documents on it when I travel (with all the baggage fees I want to carry LESS not more ),and actually may even use this to work on some of my own writing projects as well. Had my 505 not broken,I probably would've waited until the fall before considering the 700BC-I have to say however, that there's probably little chance that I would have been able to resist once I saw it in the store. I still want to have the screen on my 505 repaired/replaced,however I was not willing to spend more than half of replacement cost to fix it-which is how I decided ultimately to either a) buy a new 505 or b) buy the 700. I would not mind having the 505 to either keep as a backup or use for "rougher" situations. I will get to play alot more with the 700 this weekend, and may try to post a comparison -in case it helps others. |
