Selecting multiple books at once no longer works ?
Hello,
Sorry if the question has already been asked, I can't find the answer. Before version 6.11, I could select several books at once only by clicking and draging with the mouse. Since version 6.11, it doesn't work anymore. Only the last book on which the mouse pointer is on, remains selected. I have to hold down the Shift key while selecting books with the mouse so that the selected books remain selected. Is this a bug or a new way to do it? Thanks. For what it matters, if I try on Windows 10 (albeit running from source) it selects the book and tries to drag it, getting the crossed-out 'not allowed' circle until dragged into either book details or tag browser entry.

I just tried it with calibre 6.9 and current source (6.11 +). The behavior in both cases was the same. If a book is already selected then clicking on it and moving will drag the book. If the book is not selected (some other book is selected) then clicking on it and moving will select the adjacent books. Running Windows 10.

Ah yes, I see that behaviour now. I was trying to drag with an already-selected book.

Since version 6.11, as soon as I release the mouse button, only the last book remains selected. As you can see in the little gif I created. https://freeimage.host/i/HaHlXgj |

I've never used the "drag" method. For a bunch of books, I just select the 1st & then press shift & then select the last book; works easier for me especially whtn the last book may be on the next page. I do this once or twice a year when updating my 'smartphone' which is always turned off.
When I need to load the library to another tablet, I just do a ctrl-A to select the entire page/library; works very well since I have less than a thousand books. |

FWIW: very, very weird - I am able to get 6.11 to select multiple books with an unmodified left mouse button down drag, see attachment. But it's a little bit tricky.
I got the following by: a) selecting book 4, b) I then moved the mouse pointer down to book 7 (book 4 remains selected), c) and then, with left button down, I moved the pointer downwards. If I don't do b) and c) as a single 'flowing' action, book 7 is 'grabbed' and I can drop onto the desktop etc. But, when I tried the same thing on version 6.10 portable, I couldn't induce the same behaviour. But that install is very close to factory settings, no optional plugins, no customised tweaks. Some toolbar changes. Look and Feel->Allow using drag and drop to merge books is unchecked in my 6.11 desktop install and my 6.10 portable install. Last edited by BetterRed; 01-16-2023 at 07:39 PM.
