10 inch ereaders
Does anyone know if any of the currently available ten inch e-readers use (or could be adapted to use) ‘nested folders’ for ePub and pdf file storage?

You can do this on the Boox devices at least.

Any that use Android. Also the reMarkable (the original is actually better!) really only uses folder view, but it's only USB networking (no USB MS or MTP) so tedious to manage and can't be used with Calibre at all.
Not the Kindle Scribe or Kobo Elipsa. Well, technically you can use nested folders, but the built in reader only gives a Library view. KOReader app is easily installed on the Elipsa (no Jailbreak needed) and then the file / folder browser built into KOReader can be used. However I mostly prefer a Library view and then the folder structure is irrelevant. Calibre works well with the Kobo Elipsa to have title, author, collection/tag and series. |

Thank you. The trouble is, once one requirement (folder storage) has been satisfied, other things pop up!
The Boox Note has a few negative reviews around concerning the screen display - horizontal lines appearing and also a covering to help annotation affecting overall clarity. I just wish I could pop into a local store and try the various devices out, as I can for laptops or tablets. |

I transfer my PDFs and epubs from my iPad and the only options for ‘storage’ appear to be the existing ‘collections’ already set up in the Kobo system itself. So currently all my KOReader files reside under “Len Deighton”, in a long, confusing list intermingled with Deighton’s own books. I need to know more about “the file / folder browser built into KOReader“ you mention. I’ll see if I can locate a user manual. |

I don't think the reMarkable reads epubs. You convert them to PDFs.
Use Calibre template editor or your desktop file manager to organise folder/directory on the Aura. The KOReader will browse what ever folders you create via USB. Last edited by Quoth; 01-17-2023 at 08:56 AM. |

If in addition to reading you want to take notes, then you should go to any of the models mentioned above. Just to add that on Android devices, as well as using their own file explorers, you can install Apps to organise books conveniently with any kind of structure you want (I use Librera's Library, mostly because it is adapted to e-ink and I don't need a more exhaustive structure). |
