Reading from USB port
Thanks to information here I have successfully jailbroken my PW1 and installed KUAL v2.7. and have explored the OS using kterm. I have successfully written a few scripts which run perfectly.
I would now like to be able to use the USB port to read a USB stick but also to be able to attach other USB devices, however if I attach a USB device and run "lsusb" I get the message "/sys/bus/usb/devices: No such file or directory". How do I set up the OS to read the USB port? |

The first step is to see whether the kindle even detects the USB device. Run
Code:
dmesg -H | tail |

My mistake, I usually run dmesg on a pc after connecting a kindle.
Run as root on the kindle without the -H. |

You should read this (incredibly cringe worthy, sometimes vomit inducing) thread about USB OTG support: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=187802
Also this: https://web.archive.org/web/20120918...off.com/?p=139 TL;DR you can make it work but it requires a bunch of kernel modules to bring the USB port up in OTG mode in the first place and yet more of them to add support for mass storage devices and whatever filesystem that they're formatted with. You may or may not need to use a powered USB hub as well. |
