I just tried it again and I got, “Calibre is the one stop solution to all your e-book needs.” Download calibre
Get involved.
So it looks as though I’m on my way and I have no idea how I managed to mix up Calibre and Mobileread.
Time to shut down in this part of England and I'll start again tomorrow.

Also if a site doesn't have a section of ebooks, with covers and prices and shopping trolley/basket, they don't sell ebooks.

Calibre: A library program to manage bought or free ebooks separately downloaded and many devices to read them on.

Mobileread: A forum with user sourced support on ebook & ereader related stuff and has a special section where the Developer and users provide support.

Gutenberg.org: Nearly 70,000 legally free ebooks according to USA laws. There are other places too.

Amazon Kindle, Google Playstore, Apple Books, kobo, ebooks.com, Baen and smashwords.com sell books. It's obvious they are store (shops) for ebooks. Some sell eink ereaders too. Other places only sell the ereaders.

Or you can use iOS or Android and download free reader apps (that are either for epub generally, or specific for one store/shop). Some libraries can work with some ereaders, or use Libby app or Bolinda Borrowbox app.

Perhaps due to the holidays we've been explaining poorly. It's too obvious when you've bought a phone/tablet/ereader, bought ebooks or downloaded legitimate free ones, installed apps and on Linux, Mac or Windows installed Calibre to manage it all. Then used MobileRead to find help or share tips.

Google boosts the results of places you recently visited. They have this mad idea that people are more interested in where they've been (a book marker service, but all browsers do it) rather than actual real search results.

I don't consider Harlequin niche. Their turnover is nearly forty times Baen's.

Regardless, the OP clearly wasn't attempting to create an exhaustive list.
