Preventing syncing between devices

I have two kobo eReaders (a clara HD and a libra2) logged into the same account, is it possible to prevent syncing between them without disconnecting from the internet? All I can find online is info about how to sync them.

Quick answer would be no given that you want them to connect to the internet and they are on the same account.

Thanks. I thought that would probably be the answer, just wanted to check if I was missing a convenient setting or something.

Just turn off the WiFi and use Calibre to side load.

If you never want to sync, you could add SideloadedMode=true to the configuration, and then the device won't have access to your Kobo account anymore, even when Wi-Fi is on.

Yes, that works well.

Or if you want WiFi

if you never buy ebooks from Kobo, re-register one with a different or imaginary email address.

Or SideloadedMode=True
