First line indentation style of epub file
Hi all,
I have downloaded a novel in *.txt format. I opened it in MS Word just to apply heading style to the section lines for creating TOC. Then I saved it to *.docx format and converted that to epub with Calibre. I checked the epub in Calibre and there is no first line indentation of each paragraph: it looks exactly as in the original *.txt and *.docx files. I sent the epub to Kindle and when it's opened in my Kindle app in iPad, each paragraph has first line indentation. However, I don't have the first line indentation when I read the same epub in the Apple's "Books" app in my iPad. I wonder are there any settings or things I can do to adjust the first line indentation width or completely get rid of the indent if I want to stick with the Kindle app? Thanks for reading! Jake |

We'd probably have to look at the code in the book to see what the problem is.
If the novel is out of copyright, you can upload it here (use paperclip icon). If its in copyright you would need to scramble it and upload it. |

If you format the paragraph styles in MS Word it works.
Never have: More than one space at a time anywhere Spaces at start or end of a paragraph Tabs anywhere Empty lines Use Paragraph styles to do all these things. Add the docx to Calibre and convert to epub2. Remove the docx format Make all other formats from the epub. Normally the paragraph after a heading (especially if centred) or after any centred object has no first line indent and all other paragraphs do have a first line indent. The other scheme is a top and/or bottom margin on paragraphs. Don't use both schemes. |

Thanks for all the suggestions!
I fixed it by following the instruction here to force set a very small indent. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=231034 |
