Open dictionary with single tap

Is it possible to set up Koreader to open the dictionary with a single tap? In Librera it's possible to enable a so called 'single tap selection', which makes it so that a single short tap opens a word in the dictionary and a long tap on the screen brings up the menu.

Is it possible to enable this kind of behaviour in Koreader? I would love to be able to access the dictionary in a quicker fashion and then either long press by the upper or lower edge to bring out the menu (or swipe).

I guess you might be able to, but then you could only turn pages via swipes. If it is possible, then there a config file where you can set it up. It's been a while since I played with it.

That wouldn't be a problem, as I would use this on my e-readers with physical page turn buttons: Leaf 2, A9 and Libra 2.

Right ;o).

Not currently, but it might be somewhat doable, I think? (We... probably wouldn't merge it, as it feels rather niche and weird, though, but it could live on as a userpatch).

That would be great! How do these userpatches work?

I understand it's relatively niche, but it's highly useful for reading in foreign languages when one has to look up a large quantity of words. Saves quite a bit of time

An user patch is a chunk of lua code that modifies the runtime behaviour of the application. They are applied at runtime and the changes persist updates as long as the patch modify/hooks in functions that weren't removed or changed during the update.

It is a non invasive way of tweaking code for self-usage and the recommended way of implementing changes that aren't going to be merged upstream.

See more info and some examples at https://github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki/User-patches
