Duplicate Orphaned Folders

Doing some spring cleaning on my laptop as I am running out of room and noticed my Calibre ebook library was larger than expected. Browsing through the folders, there are many duplicate folders within an authors folder. E.g. look like this:

Each folder has the ebook, a "metadata.opf" and a "cover.jpg"

However, Calibre has just book for 'Alan Gear':-

How can I remove these duplicates as they are taking up quite a bit of room?
PS, I tried to 'move library' thinking that Calibre would only move the books in its library, but it seems to move all the contents of an author folder, not just the folders that contain books in its library.

PS, as a check I used the search
"id:=755"
That returns one book "Organic Vegetable and Fruit Growing Preserving Month by Month"
Searching for the other numbers in Calibre (14,15 and 33) return no books.

First of all they are not all Duplicates (technically). They have differing metadata (Title). The (#) part is a clue that Calibre knows these are not identical.

Find duplicates Plugin may help locate similar. You need to decide which to remove once identified.
BTW Be very cautious when peeking beneath the skirts. ANY change there breaks things.

The issue is that only one of the folders is present in Calibre. I have checked this by searching for the id's.

That didn't fix anything as the files were not in the Calibre database.

I ended up fixing it by copying the books to an empty library then deleting the old library.
