Unhappy Reregistered My Kindle, Now Books Do NOT Show in Calibre

Long story short (I hope):

I bought an ebook on Amazon, but it would NOT allow me to download it to my Kindle.

I contacted Amazon for help and this ended up in de-registering and re-registering my Kindle.

It turned out the problem was with the ebook, something about the settings the author had for it. So I returned it and got a refund.

HOWEVER, when I connected my Kindle to Calibre -- NONE of the books I have on my Kindle (and there are at least 200+) showed as being on my device/Kindle -- even though I used Calibre to download all these ebooks to my Kindle.

The "On Device" field is just *blank* for *all* of these books!

It would seem the de-registration/re-registration fouled *something* up -- but I do *not* know what this is or how to get Calibre to recognize all the ebooks I have on my Kindle as BEING ON my Kindle.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Please?

Thanks.

Some ebooks are fixed layout or other aspects that don't work on Kindle eink. If you can't buy a book it's incompatible. The CS person was wrong to make you re-register.

Make sure you have DeDRM from NoDRM Git and copy / paste serial number from My Content & Devices to the Plugin.

Delete all visible ebooks & associated files of different ending using filemanager of any kind via USB. Do File Check on the Kindle "drive".

Go My Content & Devices on Amazon and download each ebook for that Kindle.

Only ever transfer ebooks FROM Calibre to Kindle. If there is DRM stuff is broken with a different Kindle and re-registering may look like a different Kindle.

Add them to Calibre.

Transfer by Send to Device.

If you skip the de-drm step you can only transfer books since re-registered. The previously downloaded ones may have wrong DRM code.

Oh, this is far, far *worse* than I originally thought! : (

I thought because the first few books that were showing in my library were the ones I had put on from Calibre, after I had downloaded them by USB and added them to Calibre.

NOPE. The re-registering DELETED ALL of the books I had put on my Kindle using Calibre. What was showing was what was in my Amazon library as undownloaded but available to do so.

Which is NOT want I was to see! And I cannot figure out HOW to get my Kindle now to STOP showing these. I keep hitting the CLEAR button with regards with what I want displayed, but the damn things will NOT go away.

Oh, they sure as hell were. Having me do that SERIOUSLY SCREWED ME UP.
Things were so messed up I ended up using the RESET option and just
started all over again. **SIGH** What a mess!

Yes, I double-checked those and they *are* there and so it my Kindle's serial number.

I'm don't understand what you are saying. What I have showing are all the books in my Amazon library -- but none of them are downloaded right now.

Are you saying I need to download everything in my Amazon content library (which is like 850+ items!) and -- then what? How do I get them to stop showing the undownloaded items on my Kindle?

Right now the only way Amazon is giving me is to *permanently delete* them from my Amazon library to stop them from showing on my Kindle!

Well, that's what I did in the past and would do so again, if I can figure out HOW to stop my Kindle from showing all the undownloaded books in my Amazon content library.

That Amazon associate really, seriously screwed me up BADLY!

So -- again! Someone? Anyone?

PLEASE.

*** UPDATE ***

I think I might have at least corrected most of my problems. I periodically copy all of my Kindle files to my computer as a backup.

Now, I hadn't done this for about 4-5 months now, but MOST of what I had on my Kindle was in that backup -- and I just went into my Kindle's drive and replaced all the files there with copies of that backup.

Right now, I'm watching my Kindle reload all the books that were in the backup *and* restore the setting I had on my Kindle.

THIS SEEMS TO BE WORKING OKAY.

I checked a few books and they are *there*. Also I often edit the covers for my ebooks for size and design -- sometimes I use an entirely different cover from the one that came with the book -- and those special covers seem to be there as well!

I'm going to have to add a LOT of books from recent months that weren't it that backup, but at least my Kindle seems to be functioning again the way I *want* it to function.

AND -- I am going to be doing a backup of my Kindle at the start of each month from now on!

Thanks to all those who offered there help to me in dealing with this!

Okay, I think I solved my problem!

I had a backup of my Kindle on my computer from about 4-5 months ago -- and I just replaced all the files that were currently on my Kindle with that backup.

And it seems to have worked. Most of the books I had on my Kindle are back on it now and are readable -- no DRM problems. And the special covers I sometimes make for my ebooks are also there as well.

Of course, I'm missing a fair amount of books that I added in recent months, but that should be easily solved by using Calibre to add them to my Kindle again.

Thanks to everyone who offered their help to me in attempting to correct this screw up. It is greatly appreciated.
