				CBZ Metadata in KOReader

So I've been sideloading manga to my Kobo Forma in .cbz format. Through the KoboUtilities plugin I've managed to add metadata to those cbz files in calibre and now Nickel does show metadata properly, but inside KOReader all of it is missing, including covers (it just takes 1st page as a cover instead of the ones applied in Calibre). Is there a way to send my .cbz files to my kobo with metadata so that KOReader sees it too? Again, through the method mentioned everything displays properly in Nickel but not KOReader (or plato as I've checked)

What kind of metadata? Would that be https://acbf.fandom.com/wiki/Advance...ok_Format_Wiki ?

Therein lies the rub. There is no standard. Calibre appears to be using stuff from an old Google Code page (https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...e.py#L126-L201). What you see in Nickel barely has any bearing on this, though, as it's just the Kobo driver poking at the Nickel db to update the metadata fields based on the metadata in the Calibre db (which is something entirely different than how a file itself might embed metadata). Nowadays, the most common metadata format in use is probably the ComicRack one, but apparently we're in XKCD #927 territory (c.f., https://github.com/anansi-project/rfcs). That was an elaborate: "no" . (If someone volunteers and the patch is self-contained, it might doable, but the lack of a standard is why upstream has rejected feature requests along those lines a few times before, meaning we'd have to carry such a patch forever and ever). |
