Managing/Editing series folders in library
I need some advice about editing my library series and its contents.
On my Kobo device I sorted my books into series through Calibre library. Now I want to change things around. First, I'd like to rename some of series titles. Second, I'd like to move some books from one series to another. Now, that's pretty easy to do in Calibre library, but will this change be updated on my device when I connect my device and update metadata? My concern that this would create a duplicate of books on my device - one copy of series named the old way and another the new way. Same for books that were moved - leaving a copy of books in the old series folder and another in new series folder where I moved those books to in Calibre library? |

Why not do a 1 book Test?
![]() AFAIK As long as I don't touch the Author or Title, the same format replaces. So After your Test book is sent, you need to use 'Update Metadata in Device Library (Kobo Utilities). Note. You may need to do the standard 2nd connect. |

But if you're using {series} or some variant of that in your send-to-device path, it will create a duplicate. No getting around this, unfortunately; I once asked davidfor (RIP ![]() However, if you have Kobo Utilities, it's a simple matter to pull reading progress into Calibre columns and then restore it back to the new book record. The worst that'll happen is that you may lose a few hours from the Kobo's reading stats after deleting the old book and the book will have a different date in Calibre's device view. EDIT: Annotations/bookmarks will get lost too. I forgot about those. Last edited by ownedbycats; 11-29-2022 at 08:14 AM. |

But will it matter if you have {series} in your send to device template if you don't resend the eBook but instead just resend the metadata? I would think it doesn't matter.
