any way to get back to brand new on a Kindle Oasis?

I bought a kindle oasis as a local auction to resale. The package had been opened, but the kindle itself didn't look like it'd been out of the plastic. I didn't want to risk selling something that didn't work, so I turned it on through the plastic. It works fine. I can factory reset it, but is there any way to get it back to a brand new state with this screen?

You can do a factory reset, but the thing you need to be aware of is that if the device has been reported as stolen, the serial number will have been blacklisted at Amazon and it won't be possible to register it to an Amazon account. Which means that you won't be able to get books either from Amazon, from a public library that distributes e-Book loans through Amazon, or though any of the 'send to Kindle' options.

As much trouble as I am having trying to find a way to get this back to that original screen, I am assuming that it had never been turned on. I didn't realize that at the time, or I would have never even tried. meh... live and learn. lol...

Nah, this auction site is customer returns from Amazon and other retailers. I seriously doubt it's stolen or anything like that.

There is a search bar command for shipping mode:

Code:

;shpm

You type that into search on Kindle's homescreen and execute the search.
But, by default Kindle will not go back into shipping mode if the battery level is above something like 60%

19% is on the low side. You might consider charging it to between 40% and 50% first so that it is at optimum charge level for storing and shipping.

Amazon don't just blacklist stolen ones. Some sellers do sell ones marked as blacklisted as they are somewhat useable via USB.

I tried that and it said that the battery was too low; to charge the battery and try again. So I did. It finally gave a different message at 70%, but now it says that it is "unable to enter shipping mode due to missing dictionaries or fonts."

Nah. I'm not trying to scam anybody. I already have it listed and it shows the exact condition.
