Send to Kindle Twilight Zone

So I seem to be in a twilight zone. I use send to kindle a lot. They announced they their switch to .epub it was fine with me. As soon soon as the email function switched I used it for smaller books but as folks know its limited by the email size to 25MB (in my case). Send to Kindle allows for bigger books (<50MB)) which is not unusual for .epubs. Now send to Kindle is sending me back errors on .mobi files but won't accept .epub yet. When are they going to release software that supports their "strategy?"

What do you do in the meantime?

Epub has been unofficially supported by Amazon since a long time before their announcement, however the Send To Kindle app has not been updated yet.

The trick is to rename your .epub file (without changing the contents) to another accepted extension, e.g. ".jpg" or ".txt". After sending this file via Send To Kindle, your EPUB book will then be added normally to your library, even though it never was a JPG or TXT file in the first place.

I also use send to kindle a lot.

I have this workflow that made everything streamlined for using the send to kindle app.

Note that you need to change your send to disk settings to only save books in a single directory and not include the metadata files.

Use azw3 on USB; faster, more secure, more private. Send To Kindle reformats ebooks anyway.

ok just to clarify. In my experience .epub -> .txt is the only thing that works for me. .jpg just uploads the cover and then generates an error. .pdf generates a corruption error.

I use the kindle app on a tablet so the USB option is not really interesting.
