how to convert an ebook from Kobo Plus

Today I subscribed to Kobo Plus. I acquired a few titles which I synced on my Kobo Sage. I also would like to backup these books as epub files on my hard disk. Supposedly there should be an option in my Kobo account to download to harddisk but there isn't. So I connected my Kobo to my laptop and in Calibre I found these titles in the main memory of my device. I then used the option save to disk. Now I find these books on my harddisk but with weird file names without an extension. Something like this 0a1f8fbe-3f61-41ba-83dc-b4bf7ea9ac0a.
How can I convert these files to epub? I tried epubor but that didn't work.

Basically, the Kobo Plus books use a variant of Kobo's proprietary encryption scheme and are not intended to be downloadable other than on Kobo apps and devices. The rationale is that if you stop your Kobo Plus subscription, you no longer have access to those books (much like when a library loan expires or, for the Kindle fans, when you return a Kindle Unlimited loan or you no longer pay for the KU subscription) so the ebooks will be removed from your device on the next sync with Kobo. This is obviously not possible with a copy that has been downloaded and DRM removed.

Thank you DNSB. It makes sense and I can’t blame Kobo for it.
