Tungsten T3: Alarms sometimes cause the PDA to freeze

I've been encountering a problem with my T3 for a while now, but have only just got round to mentioning it on a forum. It could be a hardware problem, but I don't think so, because I can solve it temporarily by restoring from an old backup from a time when the problem was absent and then updating from the latest backup but missing out saved and unsaved preferences etc. But eventually it will recur.

The problem is this. When an alarm goes off, the T3 will SOMETIMES freeze and stay on (running down the battery if I'm not on my toes). This will happen about once in every 10-15 alarms. It happens with alarms in DateBk5 and Clock+ (a great clock application!). When I take the rather drastic measures mentioned above, the problem usually goes away for a few weeks, but eventually it always recurs.

Anyone had a similar problem? Anyone got a solution? Maybe I've just got too many applications on the pda?

I had the same problem with my old Sony Clie. I never came around fixing it, and I thought it was a Palm OS-related bug. This was however a OS 4 device, and I'd be surprised if it hadn't been fixed in OS 5.

Did you try using alarms in ther applications such as the built-in datebook? Perhaps the bug is related to DateBk5?

I used to have a Clie and used DateBk5 and Clock+ on it. This problem never occurred. I don't think it can be a DateBk bug, as it happens with Clock+ too.

Have you thought of installing Crash Pro? I know that doesn't solve the crashing problem itself, but it will be a good interim step to losing all your data from this problem.

I have got Crash Pro installed, but it doesn't work with freeze-type crashes (and doesn't claim to either). It only works when you would have got a Reset button
