Calibre 6.6.1 Sub libraries
Since upgrade I have trouble with my many sub-libraries. I have managed to get most of them in the library list so that I can swap to them but there are 3 missing and will not show as an option to add them in. The actual sub-libraries physically exist in my main Calibre Portable Windows folder but do not appear when I use "switch/create library > Use the previous existing library at the new location". All others appeared OK except for 3 (one of the missing is the main Calibre library).
Often after moving using different computers (but the same portable hard drive) I need to re-link my sub libraries. They are all usually available. Can I get help here. It might be a setting that I have made in error. |

I think my fix was more good luck than good judgement! However I will try to explain. When I first tried this I could not find all my "sub-libraries)
1. Click on your main library then select first option "Switch/Create Library" 2. Under "Choose your Calibre Library - New Location - select the icon at far right and hopefully you can find your missing sub-library - select it. 3. Leave the "Use the previously existing library at the new location" then OK This is how found my "lost" libraries Mitch13 |

AFAIK there is no such thing as Sub Libraries.
What you describe is just another (full) Library. Why, I say? Because it WILL stand alone. You can move it to any computer without moving the others and it will still work. (and yes, you recovered the switch linkages properly. Something in your configuration folder probably got damaged and a fallback one was created. ![]() OTOH VL (Virtual Library) is a 'view' of a single Library, but behaves more like a Library by itself (searches, renames... they only affect the view) |
