Unable to open or edit ANY of the books in my calibre library
I recently rebuilt my PC from scratch using Linux Mint 21. I'd taken a backup of my home folder from the previous Mint 20.3 which I restored on completion. I have since upgraded calibre to 6.6.1. Despite my best efforts I am unable to open or edit ANY of the 140+ books in my calibre library.

The backup was saved to a NAS using a Grsync job. When I changed permissions to allow read, write and execute to everyone, it still gives the same problem. It sticks on "Loading book, Please Wait". Doing a "Force Quit" is the only way to get out of it.

The viewer/editor not working are always GPU driver issues. Try updating your GPU drivers or turn off hardware acceleration as descibed here: https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qtwebengine-debugging.html

Kovid,
Thank you for your reply. Not being a software developer, I cannot understand the instructions in the link you gave me. Sorry! I bet you have had a lot of stick over that past 2 years during the pandemic with your name, right? |

This is caused by incompatibilities between Qt WebEngine (used by the viewer and editor) and the graphics drivers
on your system. Try updating the graphics drivers, if that does not work, you can try disabling hardware acceleration by setting the environment variable QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--disable-gpu" |
