My calibre catalog of books is on external hard drive. Can I run calibre without it?
My calibre catalog of books is huge, so I am keeping them on an external 2TB hard drive. It seems that the calibre program also is on the external hard drive. Unfortunately this means that if I don't have my external hard drive, I can't run calibre.
Is there a way to run calibre without the external hard drive, while keeping all my books on the external hard drive. (Just to be clear, when I say that my book/catalog is on my external hard drive, I mean to say that they are in a calibre-sorted / calibre-organized sort of way.) I'm on Linux Mint |

CALIBRE_OVERRIDE_DATABASE_PATH I can't tell you how it'd properly behave when the drive is disconnected, though. |

I just ran Calibre from my menu.
I got this screen with these details: Quote:
Note: "seagate" is my 2TB external hard drive. ---- i don't want to create a new library. The reason I want to invoke calibre withuot the 2tb external hard drive is because I have an ACSM file that I want calibre to work on. When I get back home, where the 2tb external hard drive is, then I plan to add the epub file with the rest of the calibre library. Last edited by droopy; 05-04-2023 at 01:39 PM. |

click ok in the error message and choose a new library location.
Or run calibre as calibre --with-library "/path/to/new/library/location" |

I'm scrared that if i choose a new location, it will mess things up going forward. Will it mess things up? I want to revert to my regular external hard drive after this rare occasion. |
