Just want to say hello before I launch into asking several questions about my new Sony Reader PRS-505 which, alas, is not compatible with my much loved Apple! Fortunately, I also have a much despised PC so that problem is solved for the moment. I live in Ireland by the way. I'll be back for help.

hi readingivy, i'm sure you will get a lot of pleasure from your new 505. since you are using a mac, i recommend you take a look at calibre, which is a complete library management and format conversion application. it is by all accounts much better than the sony software and... it works on a mac.

kovid goyal, the developper, is a member here so you can find answers to all your questions, and he is constantly improving it. it won't allow you to purchase books from the sony bookstore but you have many other options so i don't think this is much of a loss.

welcome to mobileread ; you'll see we have plenty of friendly and knowledgeable 505 owners who can answer all your questions.

oh, and by the way, don't forget to look at all the free books in our ebook library ("ebooks" link in the blue menu bar).
