Battery problems fixed??
Before I invest in a Sage, is there anyone out there who can advise me that the reputed battery drain problem has been corrected, so that I can get a good few hours reading without problems. I won't be using it for notes, reading only.

A good few hours have always been possible with the Sage. The battery drains quickly only in comparison to many other ereaders, some of which last for weeks. The Sage generally lasts for a few days (depending on the level of frontlight, wifi being on or not etc.), still more than a smartphone or a tablet.

Thanks for that, I note that you have a Sage and a Libra 2, do you have a preference?

I switch between them. My Libra has a nicer screen (mostly the frontlight is more even), but the Sage is faster and thinner, the latter meaning it's ergonomically a bit more comfortable for me. If I had to choose only one of them, I'd find it very hard to decide.

That's "good enough" for me as I typically read at home and can easily plug the charger in when I'm done reading. Unless you are away from a charger for an extended period of time or read with the wi-fi on and bright light you'll probably be OK. Is the lower weight a fair trade for the reduced battery life? I think that the Sage is a damn good reader but if I could trade the weight saved for better battery life I'd do it in a minute just for the added security in case power ever goes out for a couple of days. |

Whereas I'll take the lighter weight+poorer battery life any time. No matter what, I certainly don't want the Sage to be any heavier.

Also note that many reviewers who said the Sage's battery life is terrible were probably affected by the abysmal battery indicator on Kobo devices. Until you fully drain and charge the battery a couple of times, it shows you completely nonsensical numbers that can make battery life look worse than it is.

I prefer the light weight and thinness of the Sage. For the rare occasion:

We have 5 Sage ereaders in the the family. No-one ever complained of poor battery life. Certainly it's not as good as a Kindle PW3 or an original Kobo Libra. Seems better than a Kindle Oasis (v 2). It's fine to read all day and night. But I don't normally use the front light. I only saw the weird battery meter issue once on the Libra 2. |

I can barely get 2 days before I need to charge, with wifi off except to sync/check for updates once a week, and frontlight generally <25%.
That is, however, my only negative and Sage is still my favourite so far. If I could choose what shows on the Home Page like way back when, I would be very happy indeed. |

If I do buy from Kobo, I download on the PC, as I do from Amazon or Smashwords or Gutenberg. Manage with Calibre. |

Depends, of course, usually 2 to 4 hours. My first 2 Kobos about 8 years ago, would last 2 weeks or more and I was reading 5 to 6 hrs a day, every day.
The 1st year with the Sage I could go 5 to 6 days, now it's 2 days, or if I read longer on a weekend, could be only 1 day |

I bought my Sage 2 years ago when it was released. Sometimes I also read on my Libra, but more often on the Sage. |
