Book File Numbering

I have about 1500 books in my collection. I had a problem copying over my library and ended up with like 8 copies of each file. So I went through and cleaned that all out. Now I have some files named like Book (14921), etc. Is there anyway to get calibre to go through and renumber them all again? Book (1) - Book (1500) ???

You can create a new library and copy all the books to that library. Otherwise since those numbers are tied to the database entries for the books, they are not modifiable.

To create the new library, create a new directory. Using calibre's switch/create library option, select the new directory and select Create an empty library at the new location and check Copy structure from current library and click OK.

Then you can copy the books from the old library to the new library. Once you are happy with the new library, if you want to, you can delete the old library and rename the new library to the old library name.

OTOH, quit peeking under calibre's skirts. The library should never be modified other than by calibre and it's tools. Using the operating system or other tools, can cause the library and the database to become inconsistent which can be very ungood.
