Unable tocompletely turn off"ComfortLight PRO", Is this normal?

Hi, Ive had a Kobo Clara HD for a few months now with Koreader installed and have being using it mainly at night, in a dark room with the brightness (front light intensity) set between 5 - 15 and the comfort light set around 40 - 60%.

My partner has just bought a Kindle Paper White Signature Edition (the standard one was out of stock) and we were comparing screens etc.

Ive now noticed, having had the comfort light on the kobo pretty much in the same position for ages that even at 0% with the auto settings disabled, at anything bellow a brightness setting of around 30 the screen has a significant yellow tint.

I have tried in both the default kobo reader app and Koreader and the results are the same. Ive done a factory reset and a manual reset and nothing has changed.

Im starting to think this is a hardware issue but before I try to get it fixed under the warranty I wanted to check that this isnt just the default behaviour? I would assume with the comfort light set to 0% (auto disabled) that whatever the brightness the screen would be illuminated only with white/blue light something similar to the kindle....

This is a comparison photo at similar settings on the kindle/kobo (if ive managed to share it correctly)....

Update - contacted Kobo support and after going through the default question and answer process, they have agreed to replace it under warranty. I'm just awaiting the shipping labels, they said they would send a replacement on receipt of the faulty one. I'll post another update when it arrives just in case someone else gets a similar issue.

Hopefully you'll get your replacement Kobo quickly.

The Kobo screen is a slightly different colour to my paperwhites, very slightly greenish, but only just. Your photos are way more extreme, looking like the Comfortlight is still turned up quite high.

Update - Received a replacement Kobo Clara HD, arrived a couple of days after contacting support. Although they said they would send out a sipping label etc and dispatch a replacement when they received the faulty one, it appears they have just decided to send a new one and not bother with the return. Maybe the returns label will turn up at some point.

Either way the new one is now all set up and working fine, the comfort light now turns down/off as expected.

Here's a photo showing the old and new side by side at with identical settings -

Really pleased with the customer service as I had expected getting a replacement would have been a nightmare, but that was definitely not the case.

What happens if you turn up the amber light to full and then turn it down/off?
