Bricked Kobo Glo HD ?

Hi,

My Kobo Glo HD seems to have bricked itself...

It had been running koreader nicely for the past years. Today I opened up a freshly synced epub and the screen turned to black with a few diagonal white lines across. I pushed the power button to find that the reader started a hard reset. Only I would get an error after searching for updates during initialization. So I plugged the reader to my computer and used kobo desktop to initialize and update. It seemed to go fine but now the reader will not switch on at all... The screen stays blank and only flickers when the reader is supposed to change states (power on or reset).

I've tried all the different kind of resets even though they're difficult to time as the screen stays blank. Any ideas about what I could try?

Seems to me that the SD card might have got corrupted. Am I right in believing I can still try to restore an image to it to unbrick the reader? If so, would someone be so kind as to provide me with an image for the kobo glo hd? If the SD card itself is fried, could I just replace it if I manage to flash the original image to it?

Thank you!

I have sent a PM in response to the other post. But...

The error when downloading the firmware is probably because Kobo had to remove support for older security protocols from their servers. This blocks the older devices from downloading the firmware update after a factory reset. The desktop application can be used to do this.

It should respond after restoring the image. And I would recommend replacing the SD card. The problems since using the desktop application suggest it might be failing.
