Sorry if this is a dumb question but, this has been driving my nuts. Why can't the Voyage do inverted light? Black screen with white font. Seems to me that this would be just a firmware issue, not hardware. Am I missing something? Is there a hack that can do this???

Black background looks terrible on e-ink without hardware support for inverted video.

And in other words, Voyage lacks such hardware support. In the current lineup, PW4/5 and Oasis (all of them? or just 2/3?) have it, the 'basic' one does not.

Interesting. I used black background on my older Kobo (a Glo HD) and I don't think it had any special hardware support, and I thought it was fine.

Ghosting, anyone? I had to page refresh every page when trying software inversion.

If you really want it and you're jail broken you can install koreader which has software inversion. The voyage still has the best contrast to date so dark mode looks pretty good (you should try using a thinner font)

Unfortunately since there's no hardware support the ghosting is terrible and you pretty much need to refresh every other page. Doing a full refresh in dark mode causes an unpleasant white flash. But other than that...
