"Suddenly" a computer using sigil 1.9.10 with macos (12.5) started showing all the text in the preview window as sans-serif.
The epub file doesn't have any style with sans-serif all the text is in serif. Opening the file with ADE 4.5 and Books latest version shows the text as serif. The same epub file, opened in another computer (macos 10.15.7) and with the same sigil version shows in the preview window the text as serif. Any ideas on what could cause this? |

Well, the Preview font preference in Sigil's preferences would take priority when no css in the epub dictates what the font size/family should be. Have you checked to see if those preferences are set differently on the two machines?

The css sets the font-family for the text as serif and the epub passes epubcheck validation. I've also check that the preferences for Preview are the same in both machines.

Maybe you have the custom_preview_style.css file in your Sigil settings folder?

I don't think it's the problem here (since the same epub displays as expected on a different machine with the same version of Sigil), but remember that Epubcheck doesn't validate css. It wouldn't pick up any potential problems or errors in your css. But as I said, I don't think the epub's css is the problem here. @BeckyEbook's suggestion does fit the symptoms, though. The Inspector would go a long way toward showing what (if any) css is being applied.

Thanks @DiapDealer and @BeckyEbook for your help!
@DiapDealer Forgot to say I validated the css with w3 validator. The problem is now solved... and I didn't change anything! After some time, preview started showing the text in serif, without changing anything in the epub file. Maybe the machine with the problem auto-updated something? I don't know. |
