Help Transferring to new Kobo
Hello everyone,
I'm using a Glo HD and will be getting a Clara 2E. Which files and directories should I copy from the Glo HD to the Clara 2E to resume seamlessly? Thanks, V. |

As with anything, it depends...
Do you want to transfer your books only or do you want to also copy activity and annotations? Do you read books bought in the Kobo store or do you also/only read books you copy to the device? Do you use Calibre? |

Hi,
I use Calibre, I have sideloaded books as well as Kobo books, and I'd like to end up with all of my reading data intact - position in books, and order of loading (I have no annotations). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, V |

All of this information (reading stats, annotations, position in books, etc.) is stored in the database of the device.
Unfortunately there is no official way for migrating this information to a new device. But here you can find a tutorial on how to manually copy the database from your old reader onto a new one: -> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=336182 |

Do you use KoboTouchExtended plugin in Calibre? You can set up additional columns in Calibre to store information whether a book has been read or not, the date you accessed the book for the last time, the position/bookmark of the internal file in the book when you have started reading that book. That information can be stored then in Calibre and passed to the new device when you set it up.
I would recommend also the Kobo Utilities plugin to make a backup of the internal database in Kobo so if you mess or the database gets corrupted you can restore a backup. What I think it isn't passed is the date the book was added to the Kobo if it hasn't been read, at least that's the reason I started messing with the database directly instead of using the plugin years ago, but it might have been changed later. Someone else might confirm that part, or start using the KoboTouchExtended plugin to pass all that information and see if it's enough or if you need more. Another thing to use is the Reading List plugin. That way you can setup a Y/N column to mark what book you have on your current Kobo so you can easily copy them to your new 2e. The Reading List plugin can populate your column based on what's on your Kobo.

Clara 2e arrived today. I used the info in post #4's link and it seems to have worked correctly. Thanks kyôdai and to everyone else! It is too bad that I cannot get the books ordered by the files dates.
The 2e is great and faster than my Glo HD. V |
