The cost of true love?

I've just accrued enough Super Points for a "freebie", and browsing what's available to me I saw another example of the outstanding care and attention Kobo pays to their website. "Pays" being the operative word here, it seems.

Is all you do complain about Kobo? That description is provided by the publisher. If the description has a typo, that's on the publisher! It's not like Kobo has the time or resources to proofread every entry into the store. Hell, even Amazon has wonky product descriptions too. Not a big deal, although I'll grant that it makes the author/publisher look unprofessional.

It made me chuckle and I thought I'd share it. That doing so enraged you to such an extent was an unforeseeable consequence.

All I know is if I see a weird cryptic subject line in this forum, it's probably some kind of passive complaint about the website or the product. I'll just ignore them from now on.

Seven days of bills... well, what else can one expect from a vacation?

Edit: panty-dropping smile must be a new low. Ugh. Just ugh.

My sentiments EXACTLY. Deciding not to use my hard-earned points on this book was not the toughest call I've ever made

Have you considered that Kobo do NOT enter data like the synopsis. Rather they take the feed provided to them by the publisher / distributor and use that as is.

I find it hard to swallow his comment that "It made me chuckle and I thought I'd share it." when the original post stated "I saw another example of the outstanding care and attention Kobo pays to their website. "Pays" being the operative word here, it seems."

Perhaps @Uncle Robin has led a perfect life never having made a mistake or missing a mistake made by others so a candidate for tossing the first stone.

Oh, good grief. Uncle Robin owns and uses a Kobo Sage, has 2400 Super Points with Kobo and was looking over what he could buy on Kobo's website with them. I don't think he has a secret vendetta against Kobo. I think he just thought this poorly written blurb was funny and wanted to share it. I guess laughter (or even a chuckle) is verboten these days.

Option C: I'm a pun-obsessed word-lover secretly hired BY Kobo to post these screenshots that amuse me precisely in order to trigger disproportionately angry responses in defence of Kobo

I got a chuckle from the blurb. OTOH, believing Uncle Robin's claim in a later message that his orignal message was humour was hard to swallow. Perhaps you can see the humour in his earlier comment, to wit: "I saw another example of the outstanding care and attention Kobo pays to their website. "Pays" being the operative word here, it seems."

Sorry but that does not strike me as being humourous. Perhaps wording such as "I got a chuckle of this book blurb on Kobo's site and wanted to share it" would have been a better choice if the humorous aspect of the post was the important part.

Whatever your stance on punishment, your word choice in that original message was hardly redolent of humour. I really don't care what you said about Kobo, your opinion is about as important to me as the weather in a land a few thousand kilometres away which I have never visited and never will. What I did object to was the attempt to pass that message off as humour. The attachment was humorous, the content of the message would take a sense of humour warped beyond all recognition to see as humorous.

Can we fast forward to where we all agree that it’s pretty silly to poke at word choices like this (especially since it’s an obvious typo) and then have the thread locked so whoever posted last has the last word like the last time something like this was posted?

Funny blurb, poorly phrased OP.

Slightly back on topic,

I'm glad Kobo isn't spending their valuable time/manpower correcting such silly misspellings.

OTOH: There's always the chance that it ISN'T a misspelling. The man with the panty-dropping smile is a gigolo and therefore it will be seven days of bills.

And secretly I wish that there was another misspelling. How fun would have been if it was a panty-dropping simile?
