File associations in Linux
When I open a PDF from the file explorer program in Linux, it's opened in Okular. But when I open it from Calibre, it's opened in Calibre's own viewer.
How do I make Calibre open PDFs in Okular too? I couldn't find a setting for this in Preferences. |

Hmm, PDF is already unchecked there. I unchecked everything else too for good measure but no dice.
(I also just noticed my distro has Calibre 5.12, so it isn't the latest version) |

Thanks for the suggestion, bernie. The script installed the most recent version (5.43), but unfortunately the problem is still there.
It occurred to me it might be the library's fault since it's pretty big and I moved it from a Windows computer running 5.42, so I imported a PDF file in the default library, but it also opens in the ebook-viewer. |

Linux is CASE sensitive. Win is not. When you try and launch a former Win Library, the case of the filename could be wrong.
Try the Quality Check plugin: Check and rename Book Paths FWIW I would also expect that Library Maintenance would squawk about not found |

calibre uses Qt which in turn uses xdg-open. Convince xdg-open to use okular and you will be fine.

You can use more than one PDF viewer in calibre and even set keyboard shortcuts for each. I use Okular and Document viewer. There are some slight differences and sometimes I prefer one over the other. Although calibre is the very best EPUB viewer on Planet Earth, you can also set keyboard shortcuts to open more than one EPUB viewer. Best Regards, Pop
