adding series information to the title in bulk
this has probably been asked before but I cant locate anything.
so, I have a LOT of series books but cant get the info to transfer nicely. Is there anything, part from long hours, that can add the series name and number to a selection in bulk?? |

Try Manage Series plugin and Edit metadata in bulk to add series to title.

The general advice is not to do this in the library. Do it using a metadata plugboard when sending the book to the device you are using. This is a common thing for devices that do not support series info. The stickied thread, Plugboard, template, and custom composite column recipes has some suggestions in the first post.
If you do want to do it in the library, as @BeckEbook suggested, you can use the Search and Replace in the Bulk Metadata Editor to updated the title. |

Becky's answer confused me. That PI only manages Series type columns.
![]() Readers (devices) tend to use 2 data methods to display book lists. The old File Name (folder) method for really simple viewers. The Metadata present in the book method. The Send To... templates control file and folder naming. The metadata is not touched in the book by this (Send... does cause it to be refreshed by the current Calibre data). If you do not use the File Browser on the device to locate books, this is not that useful. The (Metadata) Plugboard modifies the metadata in the Sent book to compensate for devices that do not support that type. A Common usage is put {Series_index} - {Title} ->title so you can sort in reading order |

For clarification:
Sorry, maybe I did not understand the questioner's intention very well. Perhaps I took the words "adding series information to the title" too literally. There are people who like to have "garbage" in the title field, although it seems to be a pointless action. In such a situation, after filling in the metadata with information about the series (manually or via a plug-in), the OP can add this information to the title field. Of course, the file name record supplemented with series names and series numbers should be done via (Metadata) Plugboard. |
