I've never jailbroken one before since this is my 1st kindle anyway. I used to read on an android tablet with Moon+ Reader and it was a pretty good experience. Then i got the kindle, fell in love with it and so on.
The reason i wanna jailbreak now is to get KOREADER on the device and epub support. I'm on the 5.14.1 version so the upcoming jailbreak concerns ppl like us. Here are my concerns: 1) Does the jailbreak mess with the autosleep function of the kindle? Like, does it disable it so that i have to switch off the device to save battery (i never switch it off as it is) 2) Is the battery life affected negatively ? The device came with the 5.13.6 and all the subsequent updates i made reduced battery performance and made the kindle quite laggy 3) Should i go through with the jailbreak right away once it's available or should i wait a couple of weeks to see how other ppl's kindles are performing? |

Jailbreak in Kindle-land is just one certificate file added to firmware. And jailbreak has zero effect on things like battery life and CPU usage.
KOReader itself might use more battery when compared to using stock reader software. |

1) no
2) no 3) no. there aren't that often new jailbreaks, so you don't need to really pay attention to that TOOOO often. so just jailbreak & disable automatic updates, done. you don't really need updates from amazon & often they make changes you don't really want (completly overhaul of the UI, patching of jailbreak exploits etc), so i would just disable them. if you rly need a update because a huge issue, you can update manually anyway. but to make it short: jailbreaking does change zero in the terms of battery drain or anything else (well, the non-jailbreak apps atleast. KoReader etc. are different apps, so they use different battery amounts). everything works exactly like before, but better since you have more possibilitys. i jailbreaked my kindle the second day i got it, and it was the best decision in my life.
