Bionic Reading implementation on Kobo?
I saw this: https://bionic-reading.com/ and noticed it was implemented on one a website (or reader?) I use. I wonder how something like this could be implemented on the Kobo.
Or I suppose... a plug-in to Calibre to modify the epub? |

Wow, THAT was irritating! I'd never heard of it before, and thanks to that ghastly sample paragraph, I wish I never had. I don't read super fast, but that hideous setup would slow my reading right down while cranking my irritation levels right up.

This might be alright for a textbook, where the reader can make an educated guess as to the content they're likely to read, but turning this lose on speculative fiction would be a nightmare.

I did look through the page for references to how it worked or the studies to show it was better. I didn't see anything. Simplistically, it appears to be making the first half of each word bold. You could probably write a regex-function in the calibre editor to do that. And after seeing the name, all I could think of was, "We have the technology to rebuild language. ... Better, stronger, faster." |

I found the Low Opacity version to be non-terrible. The Few Saccades version, on the other hand, was absolute torture, with all the emphases in the wrong place.
And whoever decided on this web design trend of interspersing giant text lines with tiny text lines to say two things at the same time should be banned from all electronic devices for life. |

You are a much nicer person than I. I was thinking more along the lines of something humorous, but lingering, with either boiling oil or melted lead.

Is it just me or...
I see a lot of guff about patent and trademark, yet very little actual research. Can't see any listed papers etc that give concrete evidence. |

Just to be clear - I wasn't suggesting it become required for anyone. I find OpenDyslexic very annoying but I don't oppose it being *available*. I've seen (anecdotal) accounts from people with ADHD/ADD who found this very useful, so I was curious.
The fact that you personally don't like it isn't a compelling argument... |
