Where to Buy

After more than 7 years of faithful service, I dropped my Aura H20 last night. The bottom 2/3 of the screen is now gray.

Looked at the Forma and the Sage, but have pretty much decided on the Libra 2.

Ordering direct looks like it will take about a week. Walmart is out of stock on the Libra 2. Amazon lists the seller as BlueProton, but I can have it tomorrow.

Any issues with buying from Amazon vs. the Kobo website?

I got my Libra 2 from Amazon. It works as expected, zero issues. I know a good amount of people on the forum have ordered their Kobo devices from Amazon and I’d be surprised if the majority of those purchases weren’t through blueproton.

You may want to check Walmart again. I helped a friend order the new Libra 2 today from their site and they still show having stock. https://www.walmart.com/kobo

Short of that, I'm not sure about 3rd party Amazon sellers, but the experience of others here seem to indicate it's fine.

Thanks for the link. I started at walmart.com and searched for kobo libra 2. The black and the white are listed as out of stock. But if you just search for kobo, then the Special Walmart Versions appear.

Any idea what makes it a Special Walmart Version?

@ChrisI, I suggest you order from Amazon. Amazon is the shipper.

Ordered from Amazon, with a Fintie cover. Should have it tomorrow.

Got my PRS-500 in 2006, and this is the longest I've been without an e-reader since then.

Do yourself a favor and cancel the Fintie cover. They wear out fairly quickly. The Fintie cover I had lasted less then 2 years. Snd I've read of Fintie not lasting for others. I have a kwmobile case for the Kobo Aura H2O and it's lasted longer then 4 years. But do yourself a favor and cancel the Fintie.

Not a clue, but I doubt it's more than having the KoboAffliliate tag be set to Walmart since they are the "exclusive" partner to offer Kobo in the US.

Either way, glad to hear you've got one from Amazon on the way. Enjoy!

After you've registered, you'll have downloaded and installed the 4.31 firmware. You need to install the 4.30 firmware and patch it so it will not allow WiFi firmware updates. The problem that the 4.31 firmware is buggy and can cause major problems. 4.30 works.

I’ll agree with Jon about canceling the finite, though for different reasons. Their Libra 2 cases are tight fitting and difficult to take off should you ever need to. Additionally the front flap doesn’t lay flat against the back when it’s open which makes the Libra 2 less comfortable. I’m not sure if kwmobile has a better design or not for the Libra 2, I didn’t want to spend good money after bad and just got an official case which you can also get from Amazon albeit in a lot less colors and designs than the third party ones. You’ll pay more but if you’re dead set on a case (and if you aren’t don’t tell Jon) it’s worth the extra 20 bucks imo.

Thanks all for the case suggestions. I had a kwmobile on my H20, but the reader didn't survive a drop from my nightstand to the floor.

Maybe I'm over reacting, but I wanted something with some padding on the sides/corners.

If the Fintie doesn't work out, I might try the E NET-CASE. But I will never use the case as a stand for the reader, so I was trying to avoid the origami variations.

I don't like the Slim Shell Finties (the corners always break off and not enough padding), but the "portfolio" Finties are my favorite cases (though lately they've adding stands which I would just soon they didn't include). Here's the case I would probably buy if I owned a Libra 2 (maybe this is the one you bought).

The back and sides of the case I ordered are soft TPU.

But if this is the one where front flap doesn't lay flat against the back as MGlitch mentioned, I'll probably return it.

Ignore Jon. I've had Finties on my readers and tablets for years and years and have yet to replace any.

I don't have a Libra 2, so that's a valid point.

None of my Slim Shells have broken. My Glowlight 3 is in one of the portfolio cases. It is definitely more padded, but it feels fat to me.

I got the library version of this but yes this is the style. You’ll have to see if it bothers you as much as it did me. It’s just the side where it joins the case that doesn’t lay flat. The other side can but it’s still a bit awkward, especially compared to the official cover.
