Troubleshooting Emailed Books slower page turn.

Hi guys,

Anybody noticed sideloaded, emailed books has a slight slower next page turn and about 1 sec delay for previous page turn?

Books sideloaded are .mobi and Hybrid ("both"). converted via Calibre.

is this normal or is there a workaround ?

kindle paperwhite 2021 SE Version 5.14.2

Slower compared to what? Same book sideloaded via USB? Purchased books? Previous Kindle firmware version?

I sideload my books via email and they turn pages pretty fast. No different than books I got from Amazon or sideloaded via USB.

I've never noticed this, and have emailed many books to various Kindles over the years. It may be an indexing issue, which should stop once the book is finished being indexed.

Compared to sideloaded via USB downloaded from content server and downloaded from amazon.

it's not VERY slow, tho i really see a difference compared to USB transferred books.

it's all books new and old ones. and haven't added new ones the past week. have you tried comparing it? especially the previous page turn. emailed vs usb sideload.

I suspect that the difference is due to different rendering software being used based on the format of the book as delivered to the kindle. It is hard to be sure from the videos but the faster book appears to me to be in KFX format and the slower in MOBI format.

I suggest connecting the device via USB, locating the books in question, and seeing what format they are in.

yes it is .mobi when i emailed it. here is the issue.

.mobi file emailed - slower page turns.

.mobi files downloaded via content server or transferred via USB - no problem with page turn.

I don't have any other ideas as to what may be causing that slowness.

I don’t have a solution, but I registered just to come on and tell you I am also experiencing the slower page turns. This happens with .mobi files either sent through email or sideloded via USB. It’s as you said, and not super slow. For me the page turn speed is normal except for when I change directions. So if I’m just going forward in the book, speed seems normal, but if I need to go back a page, there is a slight lag.

Hi thanks! now at least i know i'm not the only one. maybe the problem is the .mobi file, being an old format.
