Paperwhite 2021 : Do I have a problem with the battery?
Today I bought a new [Kindle PaperWhite 2021 8Gb] and while browsing the books in the Amazon store, I feel like the battery is draining too fast.
MODEL : PaperWhite 2021 8Gb FIRMWARE : 5.14.2 NUMBER OF BOOKS: 22 - The battery discharges about 1% every 1 minute as I walk through the Amazon store. - Wifi OFF, no light, the battery discharges approximately while reading the book 1% every 35 minutes. What worries me is the following information from LOG " current=-53613mA": Battery log due to high delta voltage Code:
powerd[1565]: I def:battinfo:batt_type = PRIMARY, capav=98%, mAh=1670mAh, volt=4337000mV, current=-53613mA, temp=71F, lmd=0mAh, cycl=0, reason_for_log=Battery log due to high delta voltage: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1648848490 Does anyone have experience with this model, and could tell how the battery should discharge quickly or how long the battery should last? Since I have no experience with this model, I do not know how the battery should behave. Can anyone help? I also welcome your experience with the battery, how fast it will discharge in your case. ![]() Thank you in advance for possible advice, info, or help. ![]() Last edited by Michal Jancik; 04-01-2022 at 07:52 PM. |

Is your Kindle still indexing books? That drains the battery really quickly.
You can check by typing gibberish on the search bar, search, then see if you can press 'Text in books'. If you have books being indexed there, your battery will drain faster than average. |

Keep your kindle on charge for a while after putting books onto it. If the indexing takes longer than a few hours try doing a restart, this sometimes helps to get things moving.
Certain books can get stuck indexing. If that happens, remove them, then put them on one by one until you find the book which is holding up the queue. |

My problem came from two damaged books that jammed the index. Thank you for the answers, solved for me.
PS: Basically, I did it according to the user's instructions: BookCat ![]() ![]() ![]() |

From my analysis, your device uses around 4.52 mAh/hour, which looks okay to me.
period: 2022-04-01 15:42:16 to 2022-04-01 19:23:14 duration (hours): 3.68 consumption (mAh/hour): -4.52 R^2: 0.99543 Note: I use three consecutive data points that span at least two hours with R^2 > 0.995 I didn't have PW5, but I can share my Oasis 3 result. It varies between 1-6 mAh/hour but mostly around 1-3 mAh/hour. from: 2022-02-19 21:04:25, to: 2022-02-20 15:52:21, hours: 18.80, mAh/hour: -1.58, R^2: 0.99933 from: 2022-02-20 23:19:35, to: 2022-02-21 18:38:32, hours: 19.32, mAh/hour: -0.98, R^2: 0.99533 from: 2022-02-21 18:40:33, to: 2022-02-21 23:56:39, hours: 5.27, mAh/hour: -5.14, R^2: 0.99523 from: 2022-02-23 23:07:37, to: 2022-02-24 02:27:24, hours: 3.33, mAh/hour: -3.02, R^2: 0.99938 from: 2022-02-24 00:12:04, to: 2022-02-24 04:22:57, hours: 4.18, mAh/hour: -3.11, R^2: 1.00000 from: 2022-02-24 16:13:58, to: 2022-02-24 20:43:39, hours: 4.49, mAh/hour: -4.00, R^2: 0.99988 from: 2022-02-27 02:46:26, to: 2022-02-27 05:20:11, hours: 2.56, mAh/hour: -4.65, R^2: 0.99717 from: 2022-02-28 19:28:39, to: 2022-02-28 23:08:57, hours: 3.67, mAh/hour: -2.49, R^2: 0.99624 from: 2022-03-01 18:59:44, to: 2022-03-01 23:24:32, hours: 4.41, mAh/hour: -3.12, R^2: 0.99731 from: 2022-03-02 19:24:40, to: 2022-03-03 00:06:53, hours: 4.70, mAh/hour: -2.14, R^2: 0.99965 from: 2022-03-05 07:02:52, to: 2022-03-05 21:57:42, hours: 14.91, mAh/hour: -2.29, R^2: 0.99973 from: 2022-03-05 23:24:06, to: 2022-03-06 01:31:12, hours: 2.12, mAh/hour: -5.63, R^2: 0.99793 from: 2022-03-06 01:41:14, to: 2022-03-06 05:41:38, hours: 4.01, mAh/hour: -3.23, R^2: 0.99966 from: 2022-03-09 17:30:45, to: 2022-03-09 19:58:24, hours: 2.46, mAh/hour: -8.96, R^2: 0.99657 from: 2022-03-11 06:05:31, to: 2022-03-11 09:28:41, hours: 3.39, mAh/hour: -6.83, R^2: 0.99557 from: 2022-03-12 21:41:29, to: 2022-03-13 13:14:09, hours: 15.54, mAh/hour: -0.83, R^2: 0.99988 from: 2022-03-16 07:18:56, to: 2022-03-16 23:10:10, hours: 15.85, mAh/hour: -1.78, R^2: 0.99962 P.S. I think the actual volt (mV) and current (mA) values in PW5's dump files need to divide by 1000. Those values are crazy! Last edited by tekkasit; 04-06-2022 at 09:24 PM. |
