Help please, with 5.14.2 library sort
My Kindle Oasis (2nd gen) upgraded to 5.14.2 a couple of weeks ago. I've been unable to replicate the library sort view I had before the upgrade.
I had my library arranged in list view, showing favourite collections first, alphabetically, followed by any new books or samples which hadn’t been added to a collection. Currently, in Settings>device options>advanced options>home & library, I have set Collections ito option 2, show favourites in library. If I set sort by author/descending/list, collections are near the top but interspersed with books, and all my downloaded books are shown, even those which are in collections. This is the closest I can get. Please help – how can I fix this? TIA ren |

I'm afraid that's the best you can do. If you're willing to use grid view, you can change the view option of your library to Collections. At the end, you'll have an extra one called 'Uncollected' which contains all your books that aren't in any collections. I'm afraid that's the only way. List view right now either only shows you your collections or a mix of everything.
you can also check this thread on how people are dealing with the new interface. |

You can force Collections to sort at the top by renaming them. I stumbled on using an apostrophe before the name of the Collection, and that pushes them to the top. For example, I have Collections named as follows:
'Loans 'Classic Crime 'Science Fiction Still, all of your books will follow the Collections, and the best you can do is ignore them. Alternatively, you can leave your Collections named as they already are and, in your library view, go to the Filter icon on the left side of your screen (3 horizontal lines with circles on them) and select Collections (you should also have List selected here). If you do this, you will have to go to your Home Page to add new books to your collections. Last edited by Desertway; 04-05-2022 at 03:37 PM. |

thanks very much for your replies - how frustrating, I was hoping I'd missed something obvious! This new update seems quite crippling altogether.

But it is probably simplest to just turn off the Collection filter while you are adding the new books. I could probably do entirely without collections, but do use Started (books I’m currently reading) and Next (books I want to read Next). After some experimentation I finally settled on not showing them in Library and mostly just stay in my Started collection (Collections view option), reading those books until it is time to start a new one. It helps me focus on books I’m trying to finish instead of the shiny new books I just bought. However this doesn’t work as well with iOS Kindle app, which usually will not open the app to the collection in subsequent sessions. There is however a widget that takes you directly to most recent book, bypassing Home or Library, so I’ve just been using that. At this point, Amazon is unlikely to re-vamp how collections work. I think it is likely they’ll add Author grouping, and it would be nice if you could filter by genre. |
