undelted factory update file - any use?

I checked my new KOA3 for deleted files I found this:
Code:
 -rwxr-xr-x 0 0 837831033 9-Apr-2022 20:21 update-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XX
(I replaced the real numbers/letters with "X", to be sure to not share anything sensible.)

I renamed the file to update.bin and tried to check the content with kindletool but that's not working (de-obfuscating first changes the random garbage and the Bytes from Bundle but that's all):
Code:
kindletool convert -i update.bin
Checking update package 'update.bin'.
Bundle Unknown (0xD6421D4E [BN])
Unknown update bundle version!
Error converting update package 'update.bin'.
The file seems to be just random garbage and the Kindle is also not accepting it as an update. Does someone have a pointer how to decode the file? Or is that just garbage?

That would (probably) be garbage. The most we've (so far) been able to get out of newer devices is the exact filename of the factory update (and even then, not even if the FS metadata of its own file, IIRC), not its actual data.

The fact that the bundle signature is bogus would seem to imply that this is just plain garbage, though .

If you want to double-check, see if you can actually find it (FB03 or FB02) somewhere in the *full* dump (not just whatever bit your undelete spit out).

Thanks for the feedback.

I double checked, no FB02 or FB03 anywhere in the disk image.
(Checking only for FB0 yields quite some hits. But not a single hit on the exact numbers... )
