Inkpad 3 cases and sleep on/off?

Hi,

I recently bought an non original case and I notice that the device will turn off after 10 minutes (what I have it set to). This means that when I open the cover, I still have to turn it on on the physical button.

I was under the impression a cover would give me a more seamless experience... stop reading, close the cover/open the cover, keep on reading. I think Kobos have a setting to turn cover use on and off but I don't see it on the Inkpad 3.

Should I just turn off the auto power off thingy?

....

BTW, I bought one of those rubber, origami, rugged edges covers. It weight a ton, adds almost twice the weigh!

Is there an effective, light case you would recommend?

I had the same experience with my device. I talked to Pocketbook and the cases will "wake up" the device if it's sleeping but not if it's off (that is, timed out).

My device's config sleeps for 10-15 minutes and opening the case will wake it up, but once it's off, you need to use the on button. Pocketbook confirmed this.

Sorry, that made sense in my head. I also tried to find out if I could turn it on via one of the other buttons (like my old Palm Pilot could). Sadly, answer no.

I ran into the same issue when I bought a sleep cover for my HD 3. I'm guessing you could turn the "power off" setting... to off and it would probably work. My problem with that is that I love the battery life on the PocketBooks and I think the reason it's so good is that it does turn completely off (like the Sony's did — and batteries lasted forever on those). I think you could set the "Power off after" setting to 60 minutes instead of 10 minutes, so that could probably work for when your reading but stop to eat lunch or something.

I bought the OEM one (here in the U.S. at Amazon they're relatively cheap). Very light and compact. But I don't know if I would recommend them. Mine has already had a corner chip off (the "slim shell" cases always do that to me). I bought a dark grey one and they sent me a light grey one, so I set up and exchange, but when the dark grey came in the sleep feature didn't work, so I kept the original one. So... I'm not that impressed with the quality. But size and feel is really nice. (Maybe I just had a run of bad luck.)

I actually wondered about this before I bought the sleep cover, because (as mentioned above) the PocketBooks work like the old Sonys (except I think the Sonys went out to four hours or so and they didn't have sleep covers — but they did "wake up" with a quick touch of the power button until they turned off completely). Again, battery life is great on the Sonys, I think (partially at least) because of this. It wouldn't be as a big a deal if the dang power button was better placed and easier to push.

Sorry to ramble.

Thanks guys and sorry for the late reply, I always have trouble getting new answer notifications...

I guess yes, only way is to disable the auto turn off option. I was a bit confused here because the other half has a Libra 2 and I'm pretty sure all she has to do is just flip the cover and start reading.

BTW, ended up ditching the cover... not only does it make the reader weight a ton, it also has raised edges that make it even harder to grip. I never got used to the way the Inkpad is designed, the curved back makes it hard to balance it in the hand and gripping from below is not only tiresome, I always end up pushing a button sooner or later...

I'm beginning to dislike this ereader I guess but, for now, I'll just keep using the original sleeve that came with it.
