Hi from France - Book status issue
Hi everybody,

Happy to be part of the community !
I have a question about my Kobo :

The other day, i upgraded via the Kobo desktop and...
I lost all my books, which is not a problem as I put them bach in using Calibre.
But what bothers me is that I lost the list of my "Finished books" in my Kobo.

How can I avoid that next time ?

A firmware upgrade does not normally remove any books or reading statistics. The most probably scenario I can think of is that your database was corrupted and the restart after the firmware upgrade triggered a reset.

Before the next upgrade, you might want to do a backup of the USB exposed partition.

If the OP is running 4.31, this could (and most likely will) happen again. It's time to downgrade and patch so the OP can sync and/or use pocket.

If you could be bothered reading and understanding the post, the problem happened while upgrading. That usually means the database was corrupt before the upgrade was started. It has absolutely nothing to do with the issues that are happening with firmware 4.31. And honestly, those are manageable.

@Gavacho: It's probably to late now, but, as you are a calibre user, my Kobo Utilities plugin has functions to help. One is an automatic backup of the database when you connect to calibre. Restoring from a recent good backup and can get you out of this situation. The other is to store the reading status of the books. That can be restored to the device after problems when the books are put back on the device.
