Cannot transfer books to Kobo N647

Hey all, I just picked up this used device today, a bit worried it's a brick though. I connect it to my computer and I can drop in epub files through file explorer no problem. But the Kobo never updates, it shows "no books found" no matter what.

I tried calibre and while I can use it to add a book and verify it is there in windows file explorer when I try to verify the Kobo's contents through calibre it says it could not connect to device.

Kobo desktop would not recognize the device.

I've tried doing a factory reset. The device is showing firmware version 1.9.11

I can connect the kobo to wifi, but it give me an error when trying to access the store.

What else should I try to get this working?

That largely sounds like the problem described here. That problem does survive a factory reset. The fix for that is to restore an image to the internal micro SD card. I have sent you a PM with a link to the image.

But, the calibre issue is different. We would need to see the error details to have an idea of what that part of the problem is. I'm not sure about the rest.

I would say the thing to do is to restore the image, possibly to a new card, and see what happens. There is a good chance that the rest of the issues were side-effects of the main one.

Thanks for your quick reply and PM. Is there a post somewhere that goes through the steps of reimaging the device? This is pretty new territory for me.

Have a look at Memory Upgrade Mod Guide. They are for the Glo, but the basic steps and tools are the same.

I also have a used Kobo N647 that will not read epub books on an external SD and will not connect to store, etc. Are you able to help me out with the internal SD image and an instruction? Software version 1.9.12(10/16/14)
