Thumbs down Libra H20 - I want to like it but..

it just feezes frequently,
randomly reboots
doesn't come out of sleep.

I mean, it's just been horrible. I looked into some database fix and it worked, for a while. Now freezing again.

I load epubs from Calibre.

I just saw perhaps I should try convert them to kepub format?

Help me before it goes in the bin. I don't want to shell out for another reader if this one can be made...forced..into well just being stable.

Thanks

If you are on firmware 4.31, that could be your problem as 4.31 is rather buggy. If that is your problem, your solution is to install 4.30 and do not sync or you'll get 4.31 again. Keep WiFi off.

Jon's advice is good, but the SOLUTION would be for Kobo to undo the firmware change that causes this behavior.

"Before it goes in the bin" ought to get their attention.

Kobo should pull 4.31 and then fix it. That way, those that want to sync can stay on 4.30 and not get hit with 4.31.

Yes, that would be nice. We've seen them push firmware fixes fairly quickly in the past.

The reason I bought a Kobo was that the NOOK firmware was doing this sort of thing. Now it looks like Kobo has sunk to Barnes & Noble levels of competence.

I do recommend rolling back to firmware 4.30.

I don't have a Libra 2, but on my Clara the last bunch of firmwares have been very stable. The latest, 4.31 seems to be causing issues for many on this board.

I've never had a Barnes & Noble device, but Kobo's quality assurance just does no exist.

I've lost notes using my Elipsa and I just can't trust it anymore. Not to mention the dozens of time I had the database corrupted because I was reading comics =\

Really nice device, really poor software.

I've been using 4.30 since the first week of December, 2021 and it's working well with my Libra 2.

I've now put KOreader on it too and its been reliable so far. I actually like it quite a bit now and no need to dispose of it.

The developer channel for updates of that fine software is very aptly named "koreader rocks" - says it all.
