Device: Kindle Paperwhite 4 (10th Gen)

A couple weeks ago I received as a gift a Kindle Paperwhite 4 (10th Gen), but after using it for a few days, I noticed that I had two perpendicular lines stuck on the screen, each running parallel to the screen edges. I noticed Amazon of this, and they arranged a replacement device. Due to external reasons I won't get into, I also got to keep my old device.
So, I was wondering how could I give a new purpose to this PW4. Due to the screen issues it has, reading on it has become really annoying, so I don't think I could use it as a secondary e-reader. I thought on jailbreaking it and perhaps uploading some custom software that could allow me to use it as a sort of StreamDeck clone or maybe just a clock, but it seems jailbreaking it is not an option as it came with version 5.14.1 and AFAIK from 5.13.3 and up jailbreak is not possible. Also I could not find a way to downgrade it either. So, have you guys any idea as to what I could use it for? As it is already broken and would have no purpose normally, I could open it and do some hardmods, but I don't know what my options there would be... |

I wouldn't bother taking it apart as there's currently no serial jailbreak path and there's no other reason to open it up apart from for repair. |

I figured this might be the case. The waiting game it is then.
As for the StreamDeck clone, I am quite experienced coding, so programming it myself shouldn't be that much of a difficulty (I hope). I also had the idea of disassembling the device to rescue the e-ink module and maybe connect it to an Arduino, but I'm not sure if this would be possible. |
