Overlapping Images
I'm getting some overlapping images in mobi files. Attached is a photo of what I'm seeing on a Kindle. This is happening if I use the `ebook-convert` command via the terminal or using the Calibre GUI. Any ideas how to fix this?

Maybe more info would help.
What are you converting? What version of calibre? What o/s are you using? Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk |

The cause is likely to be something in your html/css that Kindle does not support. We would need to see the actual html coding to be more specific.

Do you mean the whole HTML file? The image code in this case is this:
Code:
<figure><img src="moving-to-new-york-city-during-covid/one.jpg"></figure> Last edited by bradonomics; 12-30-2021 at 01:57 PM. |

I guess I was wrong. I do remember seeing something like this before but it was a long time ago. In that case the doubling was actually present in the images for some unknown reason. Some sort of problem during image conversion.

In my case, it is only on the Kindle. When I use Calibre to view the mobi file it is skewed to fit the width, but there is no doubling/overlapping.

I suspect <figure> is the culprit (is that even allowed in EPUB?)

As a test I added some CSS as an inline style tag in the head of the HTML document.
Code:
<style>img{max-width:100%;height:auto;}</style> |

Given that it's a website converted to ePub, (I do not have the URL), can you just post a copy of the ePub?

The issue is with a mobi file on a Kindle, but attached is a zip-to-ePub of the same zip-to-mobi document described earlier.
The web page I've scraped is https://embracesomeplace.com/moving-...-during-covid/, though this image doubling/overlapping happens on almost all web pages I do this with. Last edited by bradonomics; 12-30-2021 at 05:38 PM. |

I converted the above EPUB to old MOBI using calibre and sideloaded it to my Kindle Oasis. All images displayed properly.
Since the problem is with MOBI files perhaps you could post a MOBI you have created that exhibits the problem for you. PS: Have you tried restarting your Kindle. Sometimes that can clear up odd problems. |

Attached is the mobi.
Rebooting my Kindle 4 made no difference in the display of the images. P.S. What is "old" mobi? |

It worked fine on my Kindle. See attached.
Calibre supports three options for conversion to MOBI: old, new, and both. Your file was created using the old option as was mine done previously. |
