Andrew Vachss Has Died
This was announced on his official website earlier today:
http://www.vachss.com/index.php His Wikipedia entry was updated later. He was both a hardboiled crime writer and a lawyer who worked as a fierce advocate for children and youth. |

I love some of his standalone work. Shella is a remarkable portrayal of an autistic assassin. It's the Way I Roll was also great, about a wheelchair bound hitman who used his brilliant mind to do his job. He has an anti-white supremacy thread in his work. His series stuff is popular, but I prefer the standalone stuff. Great writer.

I went through something of an Andrew Vachss period. I even bought his wife's nonfiction book called "Sex Crimes" (about her time as a prosecutor).

I read, and have owned, the first 6 or so hardbacks in First Edition. He was a wonderful writer. |

On Twitter yesterday, somebody noticed that no mainstream media outlets seemed to have picked this up.
 The closest to a mainstream media article was one on Bleeding Cool. My little Medium article comes up on the first page of Google results if I Google Andrew Vachss death. Another Medium writer's article comes up on the first page if you Google Andrew Vachss obituary. That's sad. |
