What is the best way to move to a new Kobo?

Found a good deal on the Libra H2O, and it's now on its way for Christmas

I have a lot of books sideloaded from Calibre—books bought/acquired elsewhere, a handful of Kobo books that I modified for formatting, and a crapton of fanfics—wondering how the best way to do this is.

Copying the database over? (Are they even interchangable between Aura HD and Libra H2O?) Calibre's "send to device" then restore bookmarks with Kobo Utilities? Is it better to send to device in small batches or do it all at once?

I don't know about bookmarks, but if they're kepubs, it's better to send them over in smaller batches. Epubs can be sent in one large batch (I copied about 1500 epubs over all at once). That's because the kepub processing is different and takes longer, and the device often gets stuck during it.

Personally, I just send the books to the device. And I usually do it in batches of 1000 or so. I've never had any issues with kepubs as @Sirtel mentioned. And I would actually think they were less prone to causing problems. Unless the issue is with very large kepubs.

There has been discussion on copying the database. People have reported it works. Others have not gotten it to work. I'm not sure enough of the steps to say what should be done.

You can find a tutorial on how to migrate the database here:

-> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=336182

I recently used that myself to move my database from an original Aura H2O to a Libra H2O without problems.

If nothing else, doing this when you first get the Libra H2O means you won't lose much by trying to migrate the database so it's worth trying.

I'll try transferring the database then. Kobo Utilities backs it up anyways in case I muck up.
