Opening mobi files very slow.
I know that this is because mobi files get converted before opening, but I don't understand why this is the chosen approach. Why can my puny kindle open a mobi immediately, whereas my powerful 16 thread 32gb r7 desktop takes ages (10,20,30+ second, depending on the book)?

That is because the Calibre viewer is only an .epub file viewer which means any other format has to first be converted to epub whereas the Kindle has a mobi viewer so does not need to do any conversion.

It can also be rather slow with epubs as well. The first time I hit the V key on an epub it's often a time to wait and watch that spinning circle thing. Although this morning it seems quite reasonable on several I tested.
