How do you ensure correct hyphenation?

I've added the attached hyphenation dictionary to my Kobo, and then uploaded several KEPUB books to the device using the below settings in Kepub Output plugin (for some books, I turned off Hyphenate Files:

However in the books some words are hyphenated in a way where there are 2 or even 1 characters before a hyphen. KoboTouch Extended plugin is removed, before i did that, results were similar. Is there a way to force the device to respect the settings? Will KEPUB renderer work with soft hyphens?
