I feel chagrinned asking and yet I've searched the GUI and documentation and nothing stands out. I even checked in my (Mac) directories. I'm hoping fix several titles that lost all formats after moving my library. It's a little scary that this can happen when we have no awareness of how. Any help would be appreciated. I perused the other thread about this but my you boys play rough! |

Within Calibre. From around 7,000 titles I lost 377. Tomorrow I'll see if their folders are in the old location. Frustrating that I can't see the Recycle Bin so many refer to.

I was caught out by that in my early travels. I had two Authors - Arthur C Clarke and Arthur C. Clarke, so I merged one into the other and realised a few months later that all my photoshop source files had been deleted in the move. I am not aware of any Recycle Bin in Calibre. This won't help you for your current issue, but if you right-click on the "ebooks" icon (between Remove books and Save to disk), select "Library Maintenance" then "Check Library". It will run through a quick diagnostic, then ask if you want to open a report. Answer Yes. You will see an item "Unknown files in books". From my experimenting, if a book has entries listed here, and you then move/merge the book within Calibre, then these files will be deleted. Hopefully that is of use to you in the future so you can quickly check before moving books around. |

Did you move the library with MacOS Finder or with the Calibre->«library-name»->Create/Switch->Move current library to new location action? BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-13-2021 at 03:49 AM. | |

Well that would have been useful to know. The name for it threw me off. Thanks for the kind help.
