Categorizing books inside calibre?
I find it bit difficult to categorize books, after i import all my titles i end up with bunch of auto generated "Tags" that are useless to me.
Even if i create custom tags for categories and assign books there my custom tags will be difficult to find in the list of auto generated tags. |

So remove all the auto generated tags!
One way would be preferences | import / export | adding books | adding actions | control how tags are processed and then adding a rule "remove a tag" "if it maches" ".*" to remove ALL tags as a book is added. |

Is there way to remove metadata without re-importing books, because after i use "download metadata" feature it also creates new tags.

You need to configure the Metadata Download source to not fetch the Tags. Look in Preferences - > Metadata Download.
Make sure you configure all the sources you use Last edited by georgemk; 10-17-2021 at 01:57 PM. |

Method 2: right-click on a tag in the tag browser pane, then choose Manage Tags. Select the tags you want to delete from all books, then press the delete (recycle) button. Also follow the above advice to avoid getting the tags in the first place. |

You could right click the tag and select Delete.
Have you tried that? |
