Margins and others

Please move this if necessary to the correct thread, haven't been here in quite a while and I seem to have forgotten how to make everything work!
Running calibre version 5.28 on Win 10.

#1 - This has been making me crazy for a while: the book detail view which shows in two columns, how can I make more space inbetween the columns. Currently there is a default of only one space if the information in the left column is lengthy such as when I listed all the author names for an anthlogy. I know it has to be in a template but given past experiences I am very careful with any changes and I haven't a clue as to what the command should be.

After about two years I finally figured out how to remove all the extra spacing that showed up in the book description when the language calibre used had to be changed a while back.

2nd - is there a possibiity that where we can enter the isbn or other identifer to download metadate could be configured to allow a user the to pick amazon: or bn# or kobo format to autofill and then we'd only have to enter the appropriate number? I usually add books in bunches and it would be one less thing to do when setting up an add book.

[answered, thank you]
3rd - Have you considered starting an actual help thread which starts off with the let's say 100 unique questions you get asked all the time but are still useful information? It could be a place where new and old users can get a head start on what to do to get further help? If this already exists, please excuse my ignorance but I couldn't find it.

4th - When using the series box to renumber a series it now skips #1, starts with #2 and only runs to #9, then starts again with number #1. This is not the way it worked before when using "start the series with #1 and add one". I thought I was crazy the first three or four times it happened but that is definately what I saw. (had this on my list on the bottom and forgot to include it in original post, sorry.)

I love using calibre but the details sometimes really elude me since I only use the catalog and reader for my ebooks, probably using only 10% of all it's powerful features. But it is great for knowing which books I have since my library now totals 116,988 books. I will never get them all read but being able to know what I have is great. Thanks to everone who works on calibre making it so great. And thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with that margin problem.

This was how I documented my Paper Library (no ebook to import) waaaay back when.

But most modern e-books include basic metadata (inc their identifier). Are you trying to add by file name?

adding metadata by other than isbn

as I read only fiction (i.e. mysteries & scifi), unfortunately many books do not include metadata or isbns in their metadata, and in some cases have incorrect data. So I add the metadate source identifier and download the needed info. It was just a thought to ask for this.
